contemporary photoreal painting is something very new to me. And i am talking to the 'paintings arent good unless the artist has been dead for 500 years' crew here, it most cases i think this discredits all the knee jerk reactions against the idea of 'contemporary' art, that critisize art today as something that doesnt take skill.
overhearing people in galleries and auctions over the last few months has lead me to think that there is a huge percentage of people that let the craft of the piece over shadow the art. the illustrative arrangement over the intuitive connection.
